"Miss & Mister Grande Région, the first international luxembourgish beauty competition!"
One Greater Region and so many nationalities!
The Greater Region, formed by regions from Luxembourg, France, Germany and Belgium and composed by more than 12 million residents, is a strong growing region, with multiple nationalities, cultural facets and talents living inside, which the beauty contest “Miss & Mister Grande Région” wants to reveal.
The beauty contest “Miss & Mister Grande Région” has been created in 2008 by Claus Nehring and Joana Correia. First named « Southend Model Awards », according to the southern region of Luxembourg it has been founded in, and rebranded as “Miss & Mister Grande Région” in 2011 became quickly a well-known contest with a high reputation and was fast appreciated by the regional press. The former version of the MGR internet site claimed over 20’000 visits per month in 2012, it has been replaced by a more modern website in April 2018.
2017, the return of MGR!
After a break of one year the committee of “Miss & Mister Grande Région” presents itself since 2017 in a new configuration thanks to former contestants who wish to continue the MGR adventure and bring the beauty contest with a new image to the next level. The MGR committee is now run by the well-known Luxembourgish model Sonia Gleis, the former president and founder of the contest Claus Nehring stays present as honorary president and consultant.
To be mentioned that this constellation makes the beauty contest “Miss & Mister Grande Région” as well the only Luxembourgish beauty competition with a committee composed and run by Luxembourgish people.
MGR & the Greater Region
The beauty contest “Miss & Mister Grande Région” differences itself from other beauty contests since the beginning because it was and is the only beauty contest in the Greater Region open to every nationality and every culture. As the contest has been created in order to show the fascinating multicultural environment of the Greater Region with its more than 170 different nationalities it’s open to everybody living in the Greater Region. Until today “Miss & Mister Grande Région” remains the first and only international beauty competition in Luxembourg!
THE MGR TEAM
The MGR Team forms the new heart of the “Miss & Mister Grande Région” organization and is complementary to the MGR committee. The Team is composed by different Luxembourgish personalities with various backgrounds. Its goal is to focus on the good organization of the MGR Casting Tour, the final gala and taking care of the contestants.
Sonia Gleis
International model & MGR president
Working for over 15 years as a professional international model, Sonia Gleis has worked with big names inside the high fashion industry. (Louis Vuitton, Yves Saint Laurent, Dior, Céline, Balmain, etc.) Former member of the Miss Luxembourg organization, she brings her experience today to the development of MGR. Sonia Gleis is president of the board of MGR.
Jo Machado
Fitness coach & Mister Grande Région 2015
After his election as Mister Grande Région 2015, Jo Machado launched his acting career. Passionated about fitness, he trained hard to achieve his body. Today he brings to MGR his experience as fitness coach and is responsible for the trainings of the MGR contestants and member of the board of MGR.
Amélie Vigani
Model & Miss Grande Région 2016
After her election as Miss Grande Région 2016, Amélie Vigani launched her modeling career. She brings to MGR her experience as past Miss Grande Région and is present to coach the new MGR contestants.
Elisabeth Del Boccio
Miss Italia del Mundo 1998 & MGR Artistic Director
Former Miss Italia del Mundo 1998, Elisabeth Del Boccio has participated to a large number of international miss competitions. She has been the artistic director of MGR since its rebranding in 2011. Her experience in beauty contests made her became one of the best artistic directors in Europe; she's regularly travelling abroad to give coaching lessons.
Jo Correira
Jo Model Management & MGR board member
Jo Correia founded the contest in 2008 together with Claus Nehring and managed the organization of the contest until 2015. She has a large experience in model management and event organization. She acts in today’s contest organization as a consultant to the committee and is a MGR board member.
Claus Nehring
MGR founder & MGR Honorary President
Co-founder of the MGR beauty competition in 2008 together with Jo Correia, Claus Nehring stays present as MGR Honorary President and board member. He wishes to watch over the new MGR committee & guide the new generation to a great development of the MGR beauty competition.
